Becker’s Hospital Review Releases List of 50 Largest Non-Profit, For-Profit Hospitals

Becker’s Hospital Review has released its lists of the 50 largest non-profit and 50 largest for-profit hospital in America. These lists recognize the largest hospitals in the country, in both the non-profit and for-profit categories, by bed size.
The lists were based on hospital bed counts, including all medical/surgical and special care beds, as reported to CMS by the hospitals in their most recent cost reports and, in some cases, may include bed counts from other facilities that share a provider number with the main hospital.
The top 10 largest non-profit hospitals are as follows:
1. New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center (New York)
2. Florida Hospital (Orlando, Fla.)
3. University of Pittsburgh Medical Center-Presbyterian
4. Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital (Indianapolis)
5. Baptist Medical Center (San Antonio)
6. Montefiore Medical Center-Moses Division Hospital (Bronx, N.Y.)
7. Orlando (Fla.) Regional Medical Center
8. Methodist University Hospital (Memphis, Tenn.)
9. The Cleveland Clinic
10. Barnes-Jewish Hospital (St. Louis)
The top 10, largest for-profit hospitals are as follows:
1. Methodist Hospital (San Antonio)
2. Edinburg (Texas) Regional Medical Center
3. Henrico Doctors’ Hospital-Forest Campus (Richmond, Va.)
4. North Shore Medical Center (Miami)
5. CJW Medical Center-Chippenham Campus (Richmond, Va.)
7. Medical City Hospital (Dallas)
8. Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center (Las Vegas)
9. Brookwood Medical Center (Birmingham, Ala.)
10. Oklahoma University Medical Center (Oklahoma City)
